In February and March of 2013 we joined our friends Sue and Steve Davis for a Road Scholar trip on birding and Mayan history in the Yucatan Peninsula. We started the trip with 3 days relaxing in Cancun before the trip began because by taking a plane 3 days earlier we saved enough to pay for that entire part of the trip! When the real trip started it turned out to be a wonderful combination of birding with an outstanding birder, and historical explanation by a wonderful teacher. Both of these men were Mayans who had a great deal to teach us. This trip was the basis of my program, "Birding the Mayan Ruins of the Yucatan". I hope you enjoy reading these reports.
