At the end of February, 2014  we left New England for a month long journey to warmer places. We drove through Washington visiting friends along the way, and then to Florida to visit more friends.  However, on this trip, we decided to spend a week on our own in a part of southern Florida we hadn't visited - down near the southern tip of Lake Okeechobee in the town of Clewiston.  We went to some of the oldest forest in Florida and even did some canoeing along a river filled with big gators.  Following this, we flew to Costa Rica to join our 2nd Road Scholar birding trip there.  This one focused more on the southern part of the country hitting mostly new territory for us.  It was a wonderful trip with a great group of people.
